Murviel-les-Beziers
Murviel les Beziers is a perched circulade walled 1000 year old historical village, nestled in between the famous wine growing areas of St-Chinian and Faugeres. With bakeries, butchers, weekly produce markets, supermarkets, restaurants/cafes and wine caves, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy excellent local food and wines. There is a bank (with ATM), a post office, a florist, small produce/convenience store, fish and beauty salon. A much larger selection of grocery stores such as Super U is 5 minutes from the village. Also a new tourist office that provides all the information you will need to get the best out of your holiday in this sunny corner of southern France. The village is a 40 minute drive to the antique shops and brocantes in Pezenas and only 20 minutes from the larger historical centre of Beziers. The village is surrounded by A.O.C. certified vines bottled under the well know St-Chinian lable. Long sandy beaches and stunning fishing ports are 30 minutes away. The rapid flowing Orb river is 5 minutes drive from the village, offering an abundant choice of kayaking and swimming. Situated in the Herault department, the area is known for the Canal du Midi, and ancient Roman ruins. There are many places to discover, both coastal and inland, each area unique. The famous Tour de France during past years has run right around the village and most years in the surrounding hills on route to the Pyrenees. This famous historic village of Carcassonne is 90 minutes away and Barcelona is 3 hours by car or train.
